Sharpen your senses: spot, identify, and celebrate birds this April!
This month's bird is the town pigeon also known as the rock dove, (Columba livia) is one of the most familiar urban birds, but did you know they’re the wild ancestors of fancy pet pigeons and racing birds? Originally from coastal cliffs in Europe, North Africa, and Asia, they adapted perfectly to city life, treating buildings like their natural rocky homes. Pigeons are also incredible navigators—they can find their way home from hundreds of miles away using the Earth’s magnetic field and even the sun! Plus, they recognize human faces, so if you feed one regularly, it might actually remember you!
This challenge is for anyone with a Birda account. This challenge is for tickable species only. You can read more about tickable species here.
