January Challenge 2025

01 - 31 Jan, 2025
🐦 Log 30 species πŸ“ Anywhere Hello 2025... start strong with those year ticks and see if you can log 30 species before the month ends. This month's bird is the Speckled Eider, a lesser-known relative of the Common Eider, boasts stunning plumage marked with intricate spots and stripes, resembling a living work of art. Native to Arctic coastal regions, these ducks are expert divers, plunging to incredible depths to forage for mollusks and crustaceans. Despite their chilly habitat, they rely on dense down feathers for warmth, which has historically made eiderdown one of the most luxurious and sustainable insulating materials.
