About

📷 Photograph 5 species

📍 Anywhere

Get outside, connect with nature, and put your photography skills to the test in the Wilder Photo Challenge, brought to you in partnership with Official Wilder – home of the world’s only wildlife photography competition judged live!

To complete the challenge, simply log 5 bird species on the Birda app – snapping a photo of each one. Don’t worry if you’re not a pro – any camera will do, even your smartphone. This is all about participation and creativity!

As part of the challenge, you’ll also get the chance to have your bird images reviewed by professional wildlife photographer Jeremy Niepp on Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/jeremyneipp/). Learn directly from an expert what makes a compelling wildlife photo, and improve your shots for potential submission to the Wilder Live competition.

Whether you're honing your skills or just starting out, this is your invitation to join a vibrant community of bird lovers and budding photographers. Let’s see what you can capture through your lens!

This challenge is for anyone with a Birda account. This challenge is for tickable species only. You can read more about tickable species here.

This challenge starts and ends based on the GMT time zone. All individual species logged globally will count towards this challenge and will be included in any leaderboard placement. All sightings must be logged before midnight on the day the challenge ends.

Be honest with yourself and other birders, but above all, respectful of them and any other outdoor users, everywhere – especially online. If you didn’t see it (or hear it), please don’t put it on Birda.

Clean and easy to use
Really enjoying this app, it's clean and easy to use. I love the ease of being able to add those one-off birds without starting a whole checklist. I also like the social aspect, like the parts of my Facebook I like, without the ads and junk, just birds. Can't wait to see it become more populated.

Very Wholesome App
Joined this app with a new interest in watching birds to help me find out what I was spotting. The community is very active in helping identify birds which is great and everyone is very kind so it’s just a nice wholesome community. I would definitely recommend this for any bird spotter 😄

Great app for bird lovers
I love this app! It’s a wonderful way to track birding sessions, and also connect you with fellow birders. I also really like the unidentified bird section, it’s a great community tool to help figure out what a never-before-seen bird is!
