About

🐦 Log 20 species

📍Texas, USA

🏆 Complete the challenge, earn your digital finisher’s badge and be in with a chance to win one of two awesome, AI powered, Birdfy Bird Feeders.

Join the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival Challenge from 6 - 10th Nov to share, connect and compete with your fellow festival attendees!

The RGVBF challenges you to see and log at least 20 species in and around the festival (sightings within the state of Texas will all count) to be in with a chance to win an amazing Birdfy prize. But if you want to reach the top of this leaderboard you’ll certainly have to keep your eyes peeled and go above and beyond.

Want to spice things up even more? Try and find an Altamira Oriole, a Great Kiskadee and a Green Jay - all of which are present in the RGVBF logo.

What is the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival? The RGVBF is one of the premier birdwatching events in the USA, and has been attracting birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts from all around the globe for over 25 years.

We almost forgot to mention, and this is important. You just need to complete the challenge to be added to the prize draw. It's not about being at the top of the leaderboard - although that does feel nice - it's about birds, fun and sightings; in that order!

This challenge is for anyone with a Birda account. This challenge is for tickable species only. You can read more about tickable species here.

This challenge starts and ends based on Central Time (GMT-5). All individual species logged within the State of Texas will count towards this challenge and will be included in any leaderboard placement. All sightings must be logged before midnight (Central Time) on the day the challenge ends.

Be honest with yourself and other birders, but above all, respectful of them and any other outdoor users, everywhere – especially online. If you didn’t see it (or hear it), please don’t put it on Birda.

Great app for learning Birds
I’ve been using the app for a couple of months and love it....Someone said it’s like a real life Pokémon Go for birds. They’re not far off! It’s something that the family can do that gets you out and about. Well worth downloading no matter your age.

This is a really lovely app, for everyone interested in birds - from newbies to old hands. There is a very friendly feel to the community and you will genuinely learn a lot as you record your sightings and photos. There are lots of badges and competitions to keep you engaged, and a host of really useful features.

I really enjoy using Birda, all sightings are recorded and photos can be added. There are monthly challenges which help to get you out to record your sightings. The Birda community are great and are happy to help with unidentified bird sightings. Suitable for all ages and experience!

Sense of Community
A great app, which is continually being improved. What really comes through is the passion of those behind the app. The sense of community is brilliant, so much help and support provided to new and/or in experienced birders.

A great app
Enjoying it immensely and finding it useful too. Recording the different birds and counting them is showing me how the present climate is affecting them all. I've trebled the numbers by planting native hedging. A great app.

My favourite app
As a young birdwatcher who was always keen to be apart of a community but never seemed to find one, my problem was solved downloading this!!! Everyone is so friendly and just as excited to see birds as me 😁
