Observation Details: The falcon was sitting peacefully (I was able to approach to around 10m) on a bare branch high on a rocky escarpment located above the Guayabero River rapids, located on the border between Guaviare and Meta departments, across the river from the Macarena National Park - the attached landscape photo shows the environment. Another example of the same species had been noted 2 days earlier at a rocky outcrop in Guaviare known as Cerro Azul, relatively close-by, suggesting it was perhaps the same bird. The local guide at Cerro Azul told me that they had started seeing a pair of the birds in the same spot a few months earlier. Protocol: eBird - Casual Observation Number of Observers: 8
