Golden-browed Warbler

Basileuterus belli

The Golden-browed Warbler, known scientifically as Basileuterus belli, is a captivating species of bird belonging to the Parulidae family, commonly referred to as the New World warblers. This avian wonder was first described by the naturalist Jacob Post Giraud, Jr. in the year 1841.

Identification Tips

This warbler is distinguished by its striking plumage, which includes a conspicuous golden brow that stands out against its predominantly green upperparts. The bird's underparts are a paler shade, providing a lovely contrast to the vibrant eyebrow feature.

Habitat

The Golden-browed Warbler is a denizen of subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, where it finds the dense foliage and high humidity to be ideal for its lifestyle.

Distribution

One can encounter this species across a range of countries in Central America. Its presence has been recorded in the verdant landscapes of El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.

Conservation status

BirdLife International has assessed the Golden-browed Warbler as being of Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. This status indicates that, for now, the species does not face an immediate threat of extinction in the wild.

Sense of Community
A great app, which is continually being improved. What really comes through is the passion of those behind the app. The sense of community is brilliant, so much help and support provided to new and/or in experienced birders.

Great app for beginner twitchers
I’ve had a passion of photographing birds for a long time now but have only just gotten into proper birdwatching, and this app is brilliant for those just getting started. There is a great sense of community among users and the app is very easy to use and professional. Awesome app altogether

The best bird logging app
Birda is honestly the best bird logging app I have seen. I love all the features it has from being able to do a session and log all the birds you see in one sitting, to being able to connect with other birders from all over the globe!

Such a great app!
I didn’t think I could enjoy birding more but this app makes it so much better. Some great features and a really great way to share your sightings with your friends or fellow birders nearby or around the world! ❤️

A great app
Enjoying it immensely and finding it useful too. Recording the different birds and counting them is showing me how the present climate is affecting them all. I've trebled the numbers by planting native hedging. A great app.

A Friendly Place
I love using the bird app, I have a pretty good knowledge of birds. But I do have some gaps in it, so it’s nice to have a safe space to check on a sighting to confirm the species. It’s really enjoyable and I love the badges you can collect. It’s like a real life Pokémon go.
