Yellow-browed Tit

Sylviparus modestus

The Yellow-browed Tit, scientifically known as Sylviparus modestus, is a diminutive avian member of the Paridae family. This bird is the sole representative of the monotypic genus Sylviparus, a testament to its unique evolutionary lineage.

Identification Tips

Upon encountering the Yellow-browed Tit, one is struck by its understated yet distinctive plumage. The bird's name is derived from the yellowish streak above its eye, a feature that provides a subtle contrast to its otherwise greenish upperparts and paler underparts.

Habitat

The Yellow-browed Tit is a denizen of the forest, favoring the lush subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, as well as the cooler climes of subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.

Distribution

This species graces the southern reaches of the Himalayas, flitting through the forests of Northeast India and southern China. Its presence is also noted, albeit in smaller numbers, in the verdant landscapes of Southeast Asia.

Behaviour

Observations of the Yellow-browed Tit reveal a bird that is as modest in demeanor as it is in coloration. It goes about its daily routines with a gentle diligence, embodying the serene spirit of the forests it calls home.

Conservation status

Bird enthusiasts and conservationists alike will be heartened to know that the Yellow-browed Tit is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN. This status reflects a stable population, free from immediate threats of significant decline.

Sense of Community
A great app, which is continually being improved. What really comes through is the passion of those behind the app. The sense of community is brilliant, so much help and support provided to new and/or in experienced birders.

My favourite app
As a young birdwatcher who was always keen to be apart of a community but never seemed to find one, my problem was solved downloading this!!! Everyone is so friendly and just as excited to see birds as me 😁

Just what birding needs
We need more fun in birding, for years it has had a reputation for being up tight and stuffy and only perused by retirees and anoraks. Birda helps change that perception and firmly brings birding into the 21st century! Fun, interactive while still contributing to science and conservation. If you aren’t on it, why not??
