Lineated Barbet

Psilopogon lineatus

The Lineated Barbet, known scientifically as Psilopogon lineatus, is a captivating bird that graces the Asian continent. Its plumage is a delightful array of colors, and it is distinguished by the striking lines that adorn its body, giving it its name.

Identification Tips

When attempting to identify the Lineated Barbet, look for its robust body and stout bill, which are characteristic of the species. The bird's head is adorned with lines that provide a hint to its identity.

Distribution

The Lineated Barbet has a broad range, comfortably making its home across the Terai, the expansive Brahmaputra basin, and into the verdant realms of Southeast Asia.

Behaviour

The Lineated Barbet is a frugivore, which means it has a particular fondness for fruit. Observers will often find it indulging in the sweet bounty of nature.
