Sighting

Found in a residential area only kms from the shoreline. Bower nest found under Murraya hedge. Nest only noticed the day before photo was taken and the male bower was atop a mature eucalypt tree making magpie and pied butcher bird calls all day while I was in sight of the large gumtree. Today I saw him making the mimic calls and hang around in the same area and watched him from a distance fly swiftly from his perch on the gum tree down to his nest. I proceed to hear (nails on chalk board) grind calls from the vicinity of the nest. Bower nest is open at both ends about 50cm long and about 35-40cm high. Lots of bright white pebbles and what appear to be macadamia fruits.

Learning Birding with Birda
I’m relatively new to birding as a hobby, and Birda is a great way to keep track off all the species I see. I’m still working on my ID skills, but the app is great for figuring out potential species, and the online community is so friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend Birda to both early and serious birders! 🐦

A Friendly Place
I love using the bird app, I have a pretty good knowledge of birds. But I do have some gaps in it, so it’s nice to have a safe space to check on a sighting to confirm the species. It’s really enjoyable and I love the badges you can collect. It’s like a real life Pokémon go.

Makes you want to spot birds more
I think this app is fun. It makes you want to spot birds more so I guess in a way it encourages you to get out and about instead of sitting in front of the TV.

Great app for beginner twitchers
I’ve had a passion of photographing birds for a long time now but have only just gotten into proper birdwatching, and this app is brilliant for those just getting started. There is a great sense of community among users and the app is very easy to use and professional. Awesome app altogether

I love this app! It’s a wonderful way to track birding sessions, and also connect you with fellow birders. I also really like the unidentified bird section, it’s a great community tool to help figure out what a never-before-seen bird is!
