African & Green Broadbills
The Calyptomenidae family comprises six species of passerine birds, distributed across Africa, the Malay Peninsula, and Borneo, classified into two genera: Smithornis and Calyptomena. Previously grouped with the broadbill family Eurylaimidae, a 2006 study indicated that these species are distinct enough to warrant their own separate family. Members of the Smithornis genus include the African broadbill (S. capensis), the Grey-headed broadbill (S. sharpei), and the Rufous-sided broadbill (S. rufolateralis). The Calyptomena genus features the Green broadbill (C. viridis), Hose's broadbill (C. hosii), and Whitehead's broadbill (C. whiteheadi). These birds are characterized by their vibrant colors and distinctive broad bills.

This is a really lovely app, for everyone interested in birds - from newbies to old hands. I’m relatively new to birding as a hobby, and Birda is a great way to keep track off all the species I see. I’m still working on my ID skills, but the app is great for figuring out potential species, and the online community is so friendly and helpful. Enjoying it immensely and finding it useful too. Recording the different birds and counting them is showing me how the present climate is affecting them all. I've trebled the numbers by planting native hedging. A great app.
