Jayshrike

The Crested Jayshrike, also known as the Crested Shrikejay (Platylophus galericulatus), is a unique bird species distributed across Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand. It is the sole representative of its genus Platylophus and the family Platylophidae. Its classification has been debated, with initial links to the crow family (Corvidae) being contested based on phylogenetic studies. As a result, its placement has shifted more towards the helmetshrikes, and as of 2021, it officially belongs to the newly established Platylophidae family. However, there is a possibility that an older family name, Lophocittidae, might take precedence. The Crested Jayshrike's natural environments include subtropical or tropical moist lowland and montane forests, habitats that are currently at risk, posing a threat to the bird's survival.

The best bird logging app

Great app for learning Birds

I’ve been using the app for a couple of months and love it....Someone said it’s like a real life Pokémon Go for birds. They’re not far off! It’s something that the family can do that gets you out and about. Well worth downloading no matter your age.

A Friendly Place

I love using the bird app, I have a pretty good knowledge of birds. But I do have some gaps in it, so it’s nice to have a safe space to check on a sighting to confirm the species. It’s really enjoyable and I love the badges you can collect. It’s like a real life Pokémon go.
