Hispaniolan Tanagers

The Phaenicophilidae family comprises passerine birds that are unique to Hispaniola. Within the family, there are four species spread across three genera: Phaenicophilus, Xenoligea, and Microligea. Historically, species from these genera were grouped with the Thraupidae and Parulidae families. The Black-crowned tanager (P. palmarum) and Grey-crowned tanager (P. poliocephalus) belong to the Phaenicophilus genus. The Xenoligea genus is home to the White-winged warbler (X. montana), and the Microligea genus includes the Green-tailed warbler (M. palustris). These species contribute to the rich biodiversity exclusive to their island habitat.

Sense of Community
A great app, which is continually being improved. What really comes through is the passion of those behind the app. The sense of community is brilliant, so much help and support provided to new and/or in experienced birders.

Simply fantastic
I love this app, it puts so much fun into recording the birds I’ve seen and heard while I’m out and about. The interface is user-friendly and suitable for all ages. It’s great to collect badges and to review my “lists”.

Great app for bird lovers
I love this app! It’s a wonderful way to track birding sessions, and also connect you with fellow birders. I also really like the unidentified bird section, it’s a great community tool to help figure out what a never-before-seen bird is!

Great app for beginner twitchers
I’ve had a passion of photographing birds for a long time now but have only just gotten into proper birdwatching, and this app is brilliant for those just getting started. There is a great sense of community among users and the app is very easy to use and professional. Awesome app altogether

Fun way to add to your birdwatching experience
I enjoy watching birds in my backyard, but this app helped me really pay attention while on vacation this summer. It was fun to add new birds to my bird watching app.
