Flufftails

The Sarothruridae is a family of small to medium-sized, primarily ground-dwelling birds found mostly in Madagascar and sub-Saharan Africa, with one genus also inhabiting New Guinea and the Moluccas. Formerly considered part of the larger rail family, Rallidae, Sarothruridae encompasses three genera: the nine species of flufftails under the genus Sarothrura, which include varieties like the White-spotted, Buff-spotted, and Red-chested flufftail; the two wood rail species of the genus Mentocrex, namely the Madagascar and Tsingy wood rail; and the four forest rail species of the genus Rallicula, including the White-striped and Chestnut forest rail among others. These birds have adapted to life on the ground, making their homes across a diverse range of environments within their geographical bounds.

Fun way to add to your birdwatching experience
I enjoy watching birds in my backyard, but this app helped me really pay attention while on vacation this summer. It was fun to add new birds to my bird watching app.

The best bird logging app
Birda is honestly the best bird logging app I have seen. I love all the features it has from being able to do a session and log all the birds you see in one sitting, to being able to connect with other birders from all over the globe!

Really great app
It’s easy to use and it’s fun to log the birds you notice on a walk or just in your garden. There’s a option to record the birds you see in a session which is really nice. Good excuse to stop for a while and just watch birds. I am also enjoying the information part where you can find out fact about birds from all over the world.

Very Wholesome App
Joined this app with a new interest in watching birds to help me find out what I was spotting. The community is very active in helping identify birds which is great and everyone is very kind so it’s just a nice wholesome community. I would definitely recommend this for any bird spotter 😄

A Friendly Place
I love using the bird app, I have a pretty good knowledge of birds. But I do have some gaps in it, so it’s nice to have a safe space to check on a sighting to confirm the species. It’s really enjoyable and I love the badges you can collect. It’s like a real life Pokémon go.
