African & Green Broadbills

The Calyptomenidae family comprises six species of passerine birds, distributed across Africa, the Malay Peninsula, and Borneo, classified into two genera: Smithornis and Calyptomena. Previously grouped with the broadbill family Eurylaimidae, a 2006 study indicated that these species are distinct enough to warrant their own separate family. Members of the Smithornis genus include the African broadbill (S. capensis), the Grey-headed broadbill (S. sharpei), and the Rufous-sided broadbill (S. rufolateralis). The Calyptomena genus features the Green broadbill (C. viridis), Hose's broadbill (C. hosii), and Whitehead's broadbill (C. whiteheadi). These birds are characterized by their vibrant colors and distinctive broad bills.

Great bird recording

For a while I’ve been trying to find an app to easily record bird lists and day out and struggled to find one that I like. Birda is great for this, straightforward and a great community!
