The rufous-browed tyrannulet, known scientifically as Phylloscartes superciliaris, is a diminutive and sprightly bird belonging to the Tyrannidae family. It is a creature adorned with a distinctive rufous brow, which gives it its common name.
This small bird can be recognized by its rufous eyebrow and the overall olive-green plumage that cloaks its body. Its size and coloration are key identifiers when glimpsing it amongst the foliage.
The rufous-browed tyrannulet is a denizen of subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It thrives in the lush, verdant canopies provided by these high-altitude woodlands.
One can encounter this species in the Talamancan montane forests, as well as in isolated mountainous regions of Colombia and the Serranía del Perijá in Venezuela.
The rufous-browed tyrannulet is currently classified as Least Concern by the IUCN, indicating that, for now, it is not at immediate risk of decline in population numbers.
