Snuggle Possum has seen 4 Black-capped Petrels
Sighting
Checklist Comments: Seabirding pelagic trip aboard the Stormy Petrel II, from the shelf break offshore to about 900 fathoms (5,400 feet) and back inshore to the shelf break. The warmer Gulf Stream water was right on the shelf today and had been gradually warming as we approached. Winds remained westerly while we were offshore and the wind speed varied from 10 to 15 mph with periods of up to 18 mph. Skies were sunny and clear. We had nice feeding flocks offshore and our time in the deep was productive! At least four Offshore Bottlenose Dolphins were seen on this leg. There was also one butterfly on this leg, looked like a Monarch in the distance, and we saw a few moths out there as well - not sure that some of these were not on the boat originally, but we do tend to see them offshore when we have westerly winds.
